Do You Mean This?
Hello Reader, thank you for bearing with me through my recent complications getting back online. This passage is for anyone who has ever bought a comic book from me or stopped to discuss business (anyone really): The picture contained here is the first appearance, first print of my comic book next to the third/fourth prints that I have been selling over the past years. The print on the left is the one I moved to Los Angeles with from Phoenix Arizona right after I graduated from ASU. It is my portfolio piece from when I first got to L.A. 17 years ago. I still have the first appearance, first print of my comic book character Himloune the Shaman. How about that for industry standard? Himloune survived life in Los Angeles, which is where he first appeared while I was doing interviews for jobs when I first got to the city. Neat-o story! Huh? Himloune has a cameo appearance in “Observations, Book, Essay, and Material from Various Works,” and the text for the comic book was used to make the historical play in “Two Plays on Revenge and History.” All in all, he is still a successful comic book character, and this print is where he got his start. Again, thanks for reading; my dad-mode is checking back in. Keep your look sharp and do what is right for you as a person, I say, because some of those twists and turns through the industry are dicey without respecting what it is you value most. Why? Because, who are you supposed to be in this business without your first print?

I have posted new paperwork to the Venues page. The pages are the documentation or production pieces behind the pieces I distribute here online. The story thus far is as follows: The Song of Lost Knowledge is largely a mythological text or a work of fantasy written in verse (something similar to Neverland or Fantasia). The trick of writing fantasy is producing the drafts that were involved in creating a work of fiction that in many ways looks like something else. The work was sealed around 2010 when I vetted and inked the pages to create a “fantastic material,” or a work of fantasy: something clear that can be used to seal fine print. The other pieces are the timestamped methodology to my novel according to the first and second draft.
Also, regarding current events: no word of mouth so far in Omaha NE regarding the flooding that has taken place in Texas on July 4th. I only mention this because I find the news catastrophic and Texas is relatively close to Omaha in the eyes of the world so I wanted to make sure that my point of view was communicated regarding word of mouth. The Omaha Herald ran a series of great articles but the emergency response from people is relatively non-existent. Obviously, you don’t need to run around scared if there is no danger but if feels that way to me. The impact on my mind is enormous and my website is a place for me to say “Holy Molly!” And that is all I wanted to say on the topic of what I see in the world. Zero word of mouth but catastrophic events makes me go “Yayaya-yikes!” Hopefully, your best stuff should survive the flood.

I have added another picture to the venues page and I think it is interesting as a holding because it is a vocabulary piece. When I was eighteen, I backpacked across Europe for 5 months, right after high school. I was a discouraged young guy and unsure about what it was that I wanted. I landed in Germany and stayed with a friend for 3 weeks before setting out to travel. Me and my friend traveled together for 3 more weeks before parting ways to travel alone for a month. We met back up in Greece and spent another month hanging out before he left for school in Germany and I left for Italy to stay with my brother who was serving in the Navy. I traveled to Germany, Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, and Hungary. That was 28 years ago. I still have my backpack from this journey which has become a companion piece for me for as long as I can remember. It was with me when I visited Pompei, the Red Beaches of Santorini, the Acropolis, the ruins in Rome, and all across Eastern Europe. Somewhere along the way, I spent 3 week on Serifos and my mouth still waters at the thought of squid and lamb caked in tzatziki sauce. The backpack has served as a residential piece for me similar to perhaps a poet in residency in a workshop, a place where I referenced what I learned while endeavoring to learn something new. Person, place, or thing, comes from residency, and this backpack has been a piece in my possession for 28 years so I thought it would be a nice piece to show online. I am coming up on 15 years now online and resolving some of the pieces that I have been working on as a website interests me; but so does a nice long life here, as well, which is why I have been revealing my holdings as the author and administrator of riddleversecomics.com. The ups and downs of life have wriggled free a few things that I have always had and I thought sharing a little bit more about myself would be an okay choice. My son just got home, have a nice afternoon reader, I will catch back up tonight…
And now, furthermore, I have added the full scripts for my screenplay and my stage play to the sheet music page here online. The pieces are as old and cold as they get. The PDF for my stage play is a very nice PDF because it is the same PDF that I used to produce the pages for my casting call in 2010, which means that I am distributing my production piece and I think that is interesting because it also complements with my publication with Page Publishing: once upon a time, a very nice actor named Sam Forrest showed up and read for me, which I thought was just the greatest thing in the world. I paid for theater space to do my casting call, so I always thought that Sam got a nice audition out of it, although he was the only person that showed up to my casting call. The theater was on Santa Monica boulevard (The Complex) and, fifteen years later, that reading is still an important appearance for me as a playwright. Goodnight reader, see you in the fine print or the first line of the poet’s great moment when he or she is recited and remembered.

Lovely new poetry in online poetry if interested in a pastoral stroll through the mid-west with the guy who has all the best moves in and out of downtown Omaha. Thank you reader for sticking with me here online. Also, keep an eye out for a new look at my very oldest connections in publishing in the venue page, as soon as I track down that JPEG. Sleep reaches us when it’s time to reach tomorrow. Take care.

There, I just added the documentation for my very oldest connections in publishing. No big deal, but, the track in the widget panel is a reference to an audio poem that I got published in 2004 when I was still in junior college. I thought I would get tons of publications but it was a good 15 years before anyone else called or expressed interest. The three publications are as follows: poetry.com (Phoenix, 2004), Rosedog Books (Los Angeles, 2019), Page Publishing (Santa Cruz, 2021). That’s all I could manage over the past 21 years as a poet/playwright, comicbook creator, and writer. I enjoyed placing these industry financials side by side so I thought I would share it with my readers. Thank you for bearing with me through this night of solemn tones. I am getting much better as a poet and I feel much better now, at age 46, submitting material to further my career as a poet/writer. An industry masterpiece still interests me in addition to producing new comicbooks so I am orienting myself for further interest in publication. The submission process doesn’t bother me as much now as it used to because I got my portfolio figure out. I used to digress about here but I feel better now than I did years ago so I don’t mind success in terms of more. To manage my material/portfolio is more important to me than success, however, who has a problem with industry financials when it’s time sizzle and shake? A career in the industry is still very meaningful when it comes to updating your pieces that are public with what you are doing now. Why not aim for a masterpiece, as long as your material is well thought out in terms what you value most? This is where I drift off…good night.

Good evening, a quick series of updates: “The Time Testing Tale Told,” will be available here online starting Dec. 1st through Dec. 31st for the holidays. Almost forgot how much I enjoy the holidays with free comic books online. Also, I will be posting “The Song of Lost Knowledge,” in its entirety for the first time here online Jan. 1st. I wasn’t sure how to post this particular piece for the longest time because it is a mythology, not a poem, but it looks like a poem. To post it textually without the drafting that was involved is a little misleading and therefore would not do me any good. However, I have uploaded the manuscript that is already, currently, in the Library of Congress titled, “Memories, Legibility, and Heroic Numbers.” This manuscript has “The Song of Lost Knowledge,” in its entirety along with the drafting involved in the piece through illustration included in it. That works for me as a good premier piece. Also…let me tell you this, also: I will be posting the first appearance panels for Shyloe Day: Cy, Reporter in Ghost Town sometime around Jan. 1st as well. Shyloe Day is my second-number one guy. I just love this new character. I have been working on Ghost Town side by side with The Sepulture’s Destruction for 13 years (2012). Last update: I will likely be posting a cameo appearance of Black Himloune around Jan. 1st in my journal. Black Himloune is a piece I have had since I first started drafting Himloune the Shaman, here, in 2007. He was intended to be the companion of Himloune the Shaman but I found it a little misguided to speak for black people through my hero so I decided to make him an alternate hero for my main draw. Again, it is just a quick cameo that will be included in my journal so I can introduce a character that I have never used but I have had for 18 years. In summation, what is the marquee piece you ask? I guess you’ll find out Jan. 1st!

Small adjustment to the announcements I made earlier. I will be pushing the first appearance panels for Himlaum (formerly Black Himloune) back until maybe June for creative reasons. I have to work on the panels. But, I will be posting a full-featured attribute version of the novel: Struggles and Our-Kind, En Route to a Vision on Jan. 1 instead. That’s my 2026 line-up finalized. Nighty-night O reader.

A lot of catching up to do and it’s late. New poetry in online poetry. An excerpt from my dramatic monologue series. Also, keep an eye out for Christmas Eve. I will be posting a wrap-up article along with sneak previews for my new books. I also have the new shop if you’re interested in buying a PDF-book. Some of the works I am using are a little too substantial to give away as a business model, so I am charging a buck or two for a copy. Still moving forward with January 2026 material as well. Sleep tight.

Hello readers, I posted something very nice to my contact information page, the crest of Himloune the Shaman! Also, new posts for later in the month. Thank you for sticking with me through last year. Let’s keep the announcements low-pressure. I manage my tone more than I go for big time numbers. However, 2025 was crazy, statistically. Himloune has become a very nice main draw. Yay! New heroes coming up means new future series, which make comic books my best life. Now retreat Brandon into fatherhood. Hello Graham, let’s get breakfast started!
3/3/26
I have decided to add the presale for The Sepulture’s Destruction into the online store. It should appear in early April. Keep an eye for that. It is going to have two pages of promotional imagery for “Merc-Zero against Himloune the Shaman in The Sepulture’s Destruction! Issue 2,” included so I will post the picture I am using in the venue page so the readers can see it. Boy-yo, I just can’t keep my dramatic monologue series from popping up here in my journal. I have the loveliest mid-western troupe that I would like to post but it is a little early. I only mention it because it is the premonition/summoning that corresponds to my series hero, Himloune the Shaman. In summary, the technological response to the head piece develops Desmondo the Revenger as an alter-ego for the series. Since he is the lead character for my two-act play, he is functionally the head piece for the series. I will post the excerpt I am referring to on my venue page as well. The piece hasn’t change in nearly 17 years. I printed the page during my second drip to Los Angeles as a failed poet of sorts and I rediscovered it recently, as a perfect dramatic monologue that I wrote while sleeping in my car like an idiot in southern California. That little part will get me in trouble, but I tried it for a few weeks before leaving the city for Phoenix. I think I am a dumb ass for doing it but why tell the story any other way?
